When did you join Belmont Charter Network?

How did you know that education was the right field for you?
I knew that I love watching young minds learn, grow and develop. Since I was a child, I knew I wanted to work with children and help them be their best selves.
What drew you to Belmont’s mission?
Belmont’s mission is to teach the whole child. It doesn’t just focus on the academics, while it is important, it focuses on the whole child and community.
What makes your school a special place/what do you like best about teaching here?
I will say the Inquiry events are very special. We have so many but my favorite is the winter carnival. It has games, prizes, food, and so much fun!
What’s your favorite school memory at Belmont Charter Network?
My favorite memory is probably my first kindergarten graduation. I still think those students hold a special place in my heart.
How do you create joy in the classroom?
I create joy in the classroom by welcoming and acknowledging everyone into a safe place. I allow everyone’s voice to be heard.
What is the greatest challenge you face as a teacher and how do you overcome it?
The greatest challenge I face as a teacher is having parents trust me with their child’s K-12 experience. I’m always transparent in my words with parents and let them know I want nothing but the best for each and every student.
What is one piece of advice you would give to Belmont students?
Mistakes are meant to be made. Make them and grow from them.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Philadelphia?
Visit places to eat. I love trying different and new foods.
When you were your students’ age, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was 5, I wanted to be a news broadcaster.
