Belmont Welcomes 2018-2019 School Year with New Heads of School

As of the start of the 2018-2019 school year, Belmont Charter School has transitioned to Belmont Charter Elementary school, serving grades 1 through 5, and Belmont Charter Middle School, serving grades 6 through 8. Both schools will remain in the 4030 Brown Street building and will operate under the direction of Kimberly Clark, Head of Belmont Charter Elementary School and Christine Gullotti, Head of Belmont Charter Middle School.

Kim Clark joined the Belmont Charter Network family in June of 2018, after serving in education for over 17 years. She has had various roles in traditional public schools, as well as public charter schools. Kim began her career as a first grade teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools, and knew very quickly that she would make a career of serving students and families in urban settings. A native of Philadelphia and product of Philadelphia public schools, Kim returned to Philadelphia in 2006 and has been here ever since. Kim’s educational motto is, “All children can be successful given the proper tools and support.”  A proud graduate of the Philly PLUS educational leadership program, Kim believes in the power of transformational leadership in propelling students and communities forward. Using data-driven instruction coupled with strategic professional development, Kim’s goal is to improve academic outcomes for all students. Kim also believes in providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for all kids. Kim earned her Bachelor’s degree from Philadelphia University, and a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland.

Christine Gullotti was born in Philadelphia and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, and a Master’s degree in Education from The City University of New York. She has spent the entirety of her career dedicated to working in urban education, with her first teaching position in Sacramento, CA and then quickly finding herself teaching in Harlem, where she also lived for 10 years.  From 2008-2014, she served as a teacher and then a school leader at Harlem Village Academy middle school in New York City. While there, she helped her students achieve outstanding results on state assessments and spearheaded various academic and cultural leadership initiatives as the Director of School Culture. Christine joined the Belmont family in 2016 as the Director of Upper Elementary, and will be the Head of School for the newly-created Belmont Middle School for the 2018-19 school year.  She believes wholeheartedly in Belmont’s mission to educate the whole child and to address whatever barriers prevent a student from being successful.

Please join us in welcoming Kim and Christine!
