Belmont Charter Network is proud of the lives we have touched over the years. Since our inception in 1998, we are proud to have:

  • Served 3240 instructional days
  • Prepared 1,500 students for Kindergarten
  • Provided 3,750 youth with after school enrichment opportunities
  • Served 1,400 students at our health center
  • Prepared 600+ alumni to attend select, high quality secondary and post-secondary schools throughout Philadelphia

Timeline

1999

Family Charter School (later renamed Inquiry Charter School) opened as one of the State’s first public charter schools.

2002

Belmont Charter School was founded as the City’s first turnaround school model with 350 K-5 students.

2003

The Community Education Alliance of West Philadelphia (CEAWP) was founded to serve the social and emotional needs of the Belmont Charter School.

2003

CEAWP was awarded the Belmont Community Head Start Program serving 76 Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarden Students.

2005

CEAWP opened the Belmont Out-of-School-Time Program serving 200 students.

2009

Belmont Charter opened a staff daycare program to meet the needs of its growing community.

2011

Belmont Charter opened a student Health Center within its school in partnership with EduPlus. In January of 2015, the Belmont Community Health Center opened its doors to the surrounding community.

2015

Inquiry Charter School opened.

2017

The Belmont Charter High School proudly welcomes its first class.

2018

Divided our 1st through 8th grade building into two stand alone schools: Belmont Charter Elementary School and Belmont Charter Middle School.

Belmont Charter Schools Continue to Shine on the 2017-2018 School Progress Reports

Inquiry Charter School scored in the top 20% of all elementary schools across the city.  Highlights include:

  • Model school for early literacy
  • Model school for climate

In addition students outperformed the School District of Philadelphia on PSSA Assessments in all subjects.

In addition to ranking first in our peer group for Overall Academic Achievement, Belmont Charter School earned a category of “Model” school for the City of Philadelphia in the following areas:

Student Achievement

Since Belmont Charter School became the first school-district-converted charter school in 2002 and the Community Education Alliance of West Philadelphia began implementing educational and social services programming, we’ve seen a 48.3% growth in students scoring Proficient / Advanced in Math on The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSAs) and a 35.8% growth of students scoring Proficient / Advanced in Reading.
